The working principle of a water-based digital inkjet printer begins with the computer digitally processing a designed image; a color management system decomposes the image into data for different color channels and converts this into control signals recognizable by the printhead. This step determines the final image's resolution, color fidelity, and inkjet precision.

 

The printer's control system drives the printhead. In response to commands, tiny nozzles within the printhead atomize water-based ink into minute droplets at extremely short intervals and eject them precisely onto the substrate surface. Common mechanisms include piezoelectric or thermal actuation; these methods control droplet ejection by altering internal nozzle pressure or generating vapor bubbles, thereby constructing the image point by point. Once the ink droplets land on the material, they spread, penetrate, and dry, gradually forming a stable pattern. Since different media (such as paper or textiles) affect ink absorption rates and color rendering, heating or drying units are often employed to accelerate curing. Through this process of point-by-point ejection and layer-by-layer imaging, the complete, high-precision digital image is ultimately reproduced.
