Core Structure of a Standard Single-Pass Printer

The fixed printhead array system is the core component of a single-pass printer. Unlike traditional multi-pass scanning printers, single-pass systems feature printheads mounted on a stationary frame, arranged laterally to form an array spanning the full width of the print area. Each printhead handles image output for a specific zone, achieving seamless full-image coverage through precise stitching. This architecture places stringent demands on printhead consistency, calibration accuracy, and ink droplet control.

 

Because the printheads are stationary, the substrate must move through the printing zone at a constant speed with exceptional stability. Servo-driven conveyor belts or drum systems, combined with tension control mechanisms, are typically employed to ensure the material does not shift or vibrate during high-speed transport. This subsystem directly determines whether image misalignment or stretching distortion occurs.

 

Single-pass printers generally utilize a centralized ink supply system equipped with negative pressure control and circulation filtration to ensure stable ink delivery across all printheads during prolonged, high-speed operation. Given the large number of printheads and the heavy operational load, the stability of the ink supply system is critical to the machine's continuous production capability.

 

The control and data processing system is responsible for distributing image data to individual printhead modules in real time and synchronizing jetting timing with substrate transport speed. To meet the demands of high-speed data processing, industrial-grade controllers and high-speed communication interfaces are typically used, ensuring precise, synchronized output even under heavy workloads.
